‘Fabulous’ Querciabella: As Classico as ever

‘Fabulous’ Querciabella

As Classico as ever

‘2021 is the single greatest young vintage I have ever tasted in Chianti Classico. Period. Full stop,’ wrote Vinous’ Antonio Galloni recently. A strong statement from a man who’s been writing about Italian wines for over 25 years.

Querciabella is at the top of its game. Their 2021 Chianti Classico, from high-elevation Sangiovese, knocks the lights out. Bright and powerful with red cherries, rose, lavender and earthy terracotta notes on the nose, the palate is balanced and vibrant with seamless supple tannins and a mineral finish.

‘Fabulous’ Querciabella: As Classico as ever

From humble beginnings and just one vineyard purchased in 1974, Querciabella is one of ‘the zone’s most consistent overperformers’ – and the 2021s ‘harness all the vintage’s concentration with the vivacity of the estate’s high altitude sites’ (Decanter).

Sangiovese is the centrepiece of Querciabella’s winemaking operations. From very low yields, it’s crafted with meticulous care and aged in 500-litre barrels for 14 months by proudly South African Manfred Ing and his team. We adore their wines, and we’re sure you will too.

‘This is a historic vintage readers will want to pay close attention to.’ Take advantage of this Vinous piece of advice and fill your boots!
