Domaine Lagille: Champagne’s newest rock star

Domaine Lagille

Champagne’s newest rock star

Vincent Lagille recently appeared on Vinepair’s 15 winemakers to watch in 2025. His family has been farming in the town of Treslon since 1818, and their L’Inattendue NV is one of the best value foodie Champagnes out there.

From 100% Meunier grapes, L’Inattendue spends three years on the lees with very little dosage. This delicate and aromatic Champagne shows notes of quince, plum and dried flowers with a long, savoury, seductive finish.

Domaine Lagille: Champagne’s newest rock star

2012 is among the best recent Champagne vintages, and the 2012 Au Fil Du Temps is no exception. Having spent 10 years on the lees, this three-way blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier is youthful and fresh. It offers aromas of redcurrant, peach and brioche with immense drive, persistence and very fine bubbles. A must-have!

Meunier has been experiencing a revival in Champagne over the past decade, and L’Inattendue has been making waves in South Africa since we first imported it in 2023. It was even one of our most famous local bubbly producer’s discovery of the year!

Vincent’s commitment to farming and terroir expression is inspiring. Along with his sister Maud Lagille, they’ve been converting to organic farming practices since 2019. These Champagnes are all about the terroir, embodying the spirit of Grower Champagne.
