'Glorious botrytis dessert from riesling. 2019 powers out of the blocks with absolutely classic bouquet of marmalade, apricot, rye bread & honey. Rich & unctuous but lovely, lively acidity counters & sweeps through to lengthy finish. 9 months older oak; 2018 (4.5 stars, 93 pts) & previous unwooded. 12% alcohol. 375 ml.' – Platter's Guide, 5* (95/100)

'Why doesn’t the Cape make more sweet Rieslings? This stunning, botrytis-affected example has no oak, but masses of flavour, intensity and palate length. Citrus, orange marmalade and candied fruit flavours, all adding up to 163 grams of sugar, are freshened and embellished by acidity. 2020-27.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 95/100

'From a Riesling vineyard planted in 1985. Fermented and matured for nine months in French oak. Subtle notes of flowers, citrus and spice on the nose while the palate is fine and delicate – with pure fruit and bright acidity, this has a lovely tension about it.' – Winemag Prescient Top 20 Wines South Africa 2020 Report, 93/100

'Being one of the best noble rot vintages in over a decade, the wine shows classic botrytis characteristics on the nose and complimented with honey suckle, dried peaches and marmalade. The wine has a perfect balance between sugar and acid, layered with bright fruit and orange blossom. Enjoy now or cellar for up to 30 years.' – Winemaker

Producer information The family-owned Delheim estate, owned by the Sperlings, is located on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain. The late Michael Hans 'Spatz' Sperling, was the Patriarch of Delheim but his eldest son and daughter (Victor and Nora) now run the farm and live there together with their families. In addition to the vineyards on the Delheim farm, they also produce red grape varieties on a property known as Vera Cruz, located just a few kilometers away. They follow sustainable farming practices and produce a wide range of internationally acclaimed wines.
