The combination of Maritime and mountain is a very unique terroir, and here in Stellenbosch it creates their award-winning Delaire Graff wines. A cooling Atlantic sea breeze washes over their steeply sloping vineyards giving them a rich intensity of fruit.

Delaire Graff wines rank among the most prestigious in the Southern Hemisphere. Their unique terroir, on the crest of the panoramic Helshoogte Mountain Pass, is something their ambitious winemaker explores harvest after harvest.

Despite the drought, the dry, warm weather resulted in healthy grapes and small berries with good intensity. Warm days and below average cool nights during the ripening stage gave the colour and flavour development a positive boost.

Tasting notes:
'Matured for 18 months in French oak, 80% new. A top note of violets before red and black fruit plus pencil shavings on the nose. The palate is beautifully balanced - great fruit density, plenty of verve and fine yet grippy tannins. A wine of particular structure and length.‘ – Christian Eedes, Prescient Cabernet Sauvignon Report 2019, 93/100

'Velvet textured, complex and powerful. Cassis, dark fruit and spicy flavours dominate in a layered and lingering delivery. The wine is suited for aging of 6-10 years.‘ – Winemaker

The grapes were handpicked in early hours of the morning from Delaire Graff Estate’s mountain vineyards. All grapes were extensively hand sorted to ensure only the best quality is used for winemaking.

The wine was produced with meticulous care hand sorting, whole berry fermentation, gentle extraction of fruit, basket pressed, matured in 80% new French oak barrels for 18 months and a rigorous selection to decide on only the best.
