'38% Grenache Noir, 36% Syrah, 10% Pinotage, 9% Carignan and 7% Cinsaut – an unusual blend with unusual aromatics and flavours. An exotic mélange of red and black berries, earth, olive, incense and even a touch of mint on the nose while the palate is rich and full with moderate acidity and smooth tannins. Loads of flavour, the finish super-savoury.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100

Tasting notes on the 2018 vintage:
'Grenache & syrah (33/31) lead equal carignan, cinsaut & pinotage in 2018. Savoury, juicy, with generous plum & spice countered by precise yet firm inky core. Muscular but svelte, with lacy tannins, like 2017 (4.5 stars, 93 pts). 50% wholebunch, natural ferment with cement tanks (syrah) joining neutral oak foudres & barrels. 13% alcohol, as next 2.' – Platter's Guide, 5* (95/100)

'Five varieties from eight vineyards make up the blend of this Grenache and Syrah-based red, with Carignan, Cinsault and Pinotage for company. Sappy, dense and grippy with savoury, wild herb top notes, layered tannins and bramble, blackberry and raspberry fruit. Drink 2022-28.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 94/100
