Floaty red fruit, sour cherry, cranberry; the sandalwood scent of scrub and fynbos, a glow of white pepper, iridescent and driven. The fresh red fruit continues on the palate, underscored by a riper touch of blackcurrant wrapped in a fine-boned structure. Producer information Previously the winemaker at Boekenhoutskloof, Jean Smit has partnered with Canadian-born David Curl, the former owner of Château Gaby in Bordeaux, and South African-born Genevieve Hamilton-Brown to create the Damascene label. Jean Smit is a rising star in SA winemaking and certainly a winemaker to watch. They seek out unique vineyards and sites across the Western Cape winelands and have created an exciting, pitch-perfect set of wines which are placed amongst the finest in SA.
