Tasting notes:
'The 2017 Riesling Vom Grauen Schiefer is pure and flinty on the crunchy, elegant and aromatic nose that represents the gray slate part of the classified Marienburg. Bottled in September 2017, the palate is pretty intense, lush and well-balanced and reveals an intensely mineral and well-structured finish. The 2017 is still quite reductive and will benefit from generous aeration. Drink 2020 - 2033.' – Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, 90+/100

‘Black pepper, lemon zest, lavender and dusty crushed stone make for a rather dramatic opening act in this wine’s performance. The palate and tinglingly animating finish retain the invigorating bite, sizzle and pungency that were anticipated on the nose, but with plenty of bright lemon and apple juiciness as well as a palpable, welcome buffering of lees. Drink 2019-2021.’ – David Schildknecht, Vinous, 89-90/100

About Weingut Clemens Busch:
Clemens is the 5th-generation winemaker at his family estate and began using organic practices in 1984. Later a pioneer in biodynamics, Clemens Busch is now a role model for natural, but precise German winemaking. Unlike most of the Mosel region, however, Clemens focuses on dry, elegant Rieslings that express the complex terroir of this historic region. Their unique soils in the town of Pündericherallow them to produce many iterations of the Riesling grape. Clemens Busch is based on the 3 types of slate – red, blue and grey – each imparting different characteristics and styling.
