‘Made with fruit from 100-year-old vines, grown on blue slate, facing the Mosel. Clemens Busch works biodynamically, aiming to reflect his wines’ terroir, with the variety only the medium. The citrus fruit therefore plays a minor role, and it is more about the phenolic compounds, smoky hints and saline finish, which all add up to multi-layered complexity. Producer information Clemens is the 5th-generation winemaker at his family estate and began using organic practices in 1984. Later a pioneer in biodynamics, Clemens Busch is now a role model for natural, but precise German winemaking. Unlike most of the Mosel region, however, Clemens focuses on dry, elegant Rieslings that express the complex terroir of this historic region. Their unique soils in the town of Pündericherallow them to produce many iterations of the Riesling grape. Clemens Busch is based on the 3 types of slate – red, blue and grey – each imparting different characteristics and styling.
