Chapoutier Ermitage L'Ermite Blanc 2021 Bottle size: 750ml
France, Rhône
R7,500
‘The 2021 Ermitage l'Ermite Blanc was tasted one month prior to bottling, hence the parenthetical rating. Scents of crushed stone accent notes of apricot, pineapple and lime on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied. In the mouth, this is straight, almost severe; it tells you when to jump and how high, with zesty, briny notes lingering long on the finish. 2023-2045’ – Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 98-100/100
‘Piercing intensity on the nose, there's mango, candied citrus peels and salt. Only medium-bodied, but it's an athletic, precise and hugely energetic Ermite, with really driving, focused acidity and immense salty minerality. Straight, long, and intense. Rather than the extract and concentration of some recent warmer vintages, this has immense drive. 2025-2050’ – Matt Walls, Decanter, 98/100
‘The stunning 2021 Ermitage Blanc L'Ermite exhales intense hawthorn, flintstone, lemon peel, ripe pear, honeysuckle and white peach aromatics. The intentionally reductive elements are seamlessly integrated into the overall aromatic profile, making their presence felt without overshadowing everything else. Touching the palate with mind-boggling energy and elevated flavor concentration, the 2021 fires on all cylinders. Enjoy this immaculately sculpted L'Ermite over the next decade. 2024-2036’ – Nicholas Greinacher, Vinous, 96/100
‘Extremely complex nose without the immediate welcome of Le Méal. Heady and fine with some wild-flower notes. Excellent acidity. Many different layers and amazingly lithe for a Hermitage Blanc. Quite chewy on the end. This one will run and run!2025-2045.’ – Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 18+/20
