About Krug:
Founded in 1843, Charles Krug is the 6th generation custodian of arguably the greatest sparkling wine producer on earth. Their flagship, prestige bottling is the non-vintage Grande Cuvée which makes up the majority of their production. Their incredible blending process gives Krug its hallmark richness, complexity and amazing finesse.

The House of Krug chose to create Krug Clos du Mesnil 2002 because, the year 2002, marked by the generosity of the yields, succeeded in offering ideal conditions for the maturation of beautiful grapes, with the promise of revealing the full potential of this walled plot. It exalts the crisp purity of a single plot of vines and of a single grape variety (Chardonnay), from one single year (2002).

Tasting notes:
'Krug's beautifully citrus colored 2002 Blanc de Blancs Brut Clos du Mesnil shows a deep, complex, very clear and precise if not etherial bouquet with citrus aromas intertwined with chalk and noble brioche notes in the background. Pure, profound and vibrantly fresh on the palate, this is a straight, athletic, very intense and expressive yet highly elegant and finessed Clos du Mesnil with a unique fresh fruit character! The 2002 reveals a great mineral structure and chalky texture on the palate. The highly complex, energetic finish reveals bracing freshness and vitality as well as the charm and creaminess from the vinification in barrels and possibly the dosage wine that seems to boost the Krug style.' – Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, 98+/100

'The 2002 Krug Blanc de Blancs Clos du Mesnil is a work of art, at once delicate yet powerful. The Clos du Mesnil is tropical and more approachable than usual.' –Ian D'Agata, Vinous, 95/100
