‘At 30%, the proportion of Semillon in this exemplary blend with Sauvignon Blanc is at its highest yet. The bunches were tiny in 2021 - "small enough to fit in the palm of my hand" says Riandri Visser - and you can taste the concentration in the wine. ‘The 2021 Isliedh is a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, a little higher than the previous vintage. The grape varieties are picked separately, settled for six hours and spontaneously fermented in 600-litre barrels for 12 months of which four months in the fine lees. It has a very succinct bouquet with nuanced scents of chalk, grapefruit, melon and nettle, the Semillon lending complexity and a slight resinous scent. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, quite Bordeaux-like with impressive mineralité and a tensile finish, hints of orange pith and tangerine on the aftertaste. Always one of my favourite Cape Sauvignon Blancs, this is just excellent. 2023-2032’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 93/100
