| Producer information | Château Cantemerle located in the commune of Macau in Bordeaux, France, can be dated back to the 12th century. In 1855, Château Cantemerle was classified as a first growth. However, there is some controversy surrounding this since it was not included in the first publication and only appears in listings after 1855. From 1981 to 1993, Château Cantemerle experienced a rebirth when, under new leadership, the vineyards were replanted and the cellars and the château were renovated. In 1993 Cantemerle was once again in the ownership of Cantemerle. Since 2001, Cantemerle has focused on greener techniques and takes the environment into consideration in its practices. Of the 190 hectares owned, 90 hectares are planted to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. |
