‘The 2019 Pinot Noir Galpin Peak has more fruit intensity on the nose than the Tête de Cuvée, offering black cherry and raspberry fruit, well defined and fresh. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and ripe, with supple tannins, flavors of red cherry, raspberry and a touch of soy, and gentle grip toward the spicy finish. This should drink well for 4–6 years. ‘Beginning with a light ruby core with a soft garnet edge, the 2019 Galpin Peak Pinot Noir opens with aromas of sour cherry, wild raspberry and potpourri spice before subtle elements of dried herbs and laurel sway into focus. Medium-bodied, the wine displays lively acidity in the mouth with a growing spiciness and lingering herbal edge. Flavors of cranberry and wild strawberry linger with a subtle minty character across the lingering conclusion, ending with a soft tannic edge. Producer information Bouchard Finlayson, located in a hidden valley in the Walker Bay region, has been producing quality wines since 1989 and their much-awarded wines need no introduction. A collaboration between Paul Bouchard and Peter Finlayson led to the creation of Bouchard Finlayson Wines and since 2017, Chris Albrecht, has taken over the production reins. In addition to producing award-winning wines, Bouchard Finlayson is committed to conservation with only 22 hectares of their 125-hectare property, planted with vines.
