‘The wine that launched the modern Syrah revolution in South Africa, even if it's sourced from two sites in the Swartland these days, rather than Somerset West. Almost indecently perfumed and alluring, this is a very immediate wine that will also reward cellaring. Sweet spices, red berry fruit, fine, savoury tannins and just a hint of oak with energetic acidity. 2023-31.’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2021, 97/100

‘The 2019 Syrah is very perfumed on the nose, offering black cherries, boysenberry, pressed rose petal and incense. This really expresses the variety with style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained, supple tannins and well-judged acidity. Smooth and intense, yet quite gentle and caressing on the finish. This is a delicious Syrah that should drink well for 15–20 years.’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 93/100

‘Quiet entry to 2019, fragrant black pepper notes gaining confidence with ripe plum & cherry fruit nestled lightly amongst glossy tannins. Satin texture thanks to concrete vinification & use of only older & larger oak, 60% wholebunch adds freshness & mouthfeel to Swartland fruit.’ – Platter’s Guide, 4.5* (93/100)
