Tasting notes:
'Eclectic flagship made only in best vintages, 40% mourvèdre in 2017 co-fermented with cab franc, pinotage, tinta & petit verdot, beautifully unified after 2 years in French oak, 25% new. Richer yet also more graceful than 2016 (4.5 stars, 94 pts). In 1.5, 3 & 5L too, as Hope Marguerite.' – Platter's Guide, 5* (95/100)

'The current release 2017 is a blend of 40% Mourvèdre, 27% Syrah, 19% Pinotage, 7% Tinta Barocca and 7% Cabernet Franc matured for 24 months in French oak, 25% new. The nose shows a subtle floral top note before cherry, plum and red berries as well as a little earthiness while the palate is medium bodied with lovely bright acidity and powdery tannins. It’s obviously been carefully crafted but nevertheless retains a pleasing idiosyncrasy.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100

About Beaumont:
Beaumont, located in Botriver, is a family-run farm. It was founded by Raoul and Jayne Beaumont in 1974, and is now run by their son Sebastian Beaumont. The farm dates back to the 1700’s when it was owned by the Dutch East India Company and is now home to the region’s oldest wine cellar. The vineyards sit on ancient clay-rich soil and are said to be some of the finest in the area. Beaumont, always doing something interesting and different, were the first to introduce Mourvèdre as a single bottled variety in South Africa.
