Tim Atkin SA Report
'Hereafter Here is what Chris Alheit calls a "young vineyard wine" although it contains older material from the Paardeberg and Tygerberg too. Blended with a splash of Semillon from Franschhoek, it's a total bargain in the range, with a nice interplay of lees, beeswax and granite-derived structure and a touch of flinty reduction. 2024-29' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2024, 94/100

‘Mostly a young vineyard wine, grapes from Swartland, Piekenierskloof, Bottelary, Polkadraai Hills plus some from older parcels in Paardeberg and Tygerberg. Exotic aromatics of pear, yellow peach, orange and pineapple plus some leesy character. The palate is relatively rich with tangy acidity and a savoury finish. Alc: 13.21%.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100

‘The palate is savoury for a Chenin. It seems like a slow-moving deep-water swell of flavour that builds and falls in its own time. This wine will be a great companion at the dinner table.’ – Winemaker

Producer information Chris and Suzaan Alheit, together with their assistant Franco Lourens and viticultural consultant Etienne Terblanche, are the dream team that firmly establishes Alheit Vineyards as SA’s premier white wine producer. Producing some of our most profound and haunting white wines, Chris and Suzaan Alheit have an especially accomplished touch with Chenin. There has been a shift in the Alheits' focus towards single origin wines which highlights a better understanding and translation of the vineyard.
