'Lightest colour of the chenins. 2019 intense spicy, thatch, herbal scrub aromas. Light, airy feeling (modest 13% alcohol), but intense flavours with stony minerality. The bright, vital, integrated acidity that all these share.' – Platter's Guide, 4.5* (93/100)

'Is this a new wine? "Er, I think so," says Adi Badenhorst. Sourced from deeper granite soils than most of his Chenins, Skool used to be a component of Secateurs but is now bottled on its own. Exotic, peachy and textured, with some phenolic grip and a herbal, fynbos tang. Drink 2021-25.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 93/100

'This is the first vintage we bottled the wine from this parcel separately. The wine expresses typical Chenin blanc flavours found in the wines of Swartland. Yellow stone fruit, good texture, freshness, and concentration of fruit is the norm from this site. This wine is not released annually.' – Adi Badenhorst, Winemaker

Producer information AA Badenhorst Family Wines are grown, made and matured on Kalmoesfontein farm in the Swartland appellation of South Africa. The farm is owned by cousins, Hein and Adi Badenhorst, and over the last decade, 41 hectares of old vines, the oldest planted back in 1952, have been farmed back to glory. They practice biological farming and make natural wines in the traditional manner. 'The top wines translate Swartland through Adi's fuzzy logic and irresistible charm,' writes Neal Martin after a visit. He also calls his visit one of his 'top 10 wine visits of all time'.
