'Previously known as Family White, this co-fermented blend of Chenin Blanc with 46% Semillon, Roussanne, Viognier, Grenache Blanc and Palomino is now named after Adi Badenhorst's home farm. Peppery, savoury and intense, with aniseed and honeysuckle aromas, good texture, subtle oak and a pithy, stony finish. Drink 2022-28.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2021, 94/100

'Includes some 10 or 11 varieties sourced from 17 vineyards. Golden Delicous apple, stone fruit, pineapple as well as bee’s wax and a hint of spice on the nose. The alcohol is 14% and the palate is substantial – rich and broad with seemingly moderate acidity and a gently savoury finish. Comes across as a bit showy but sure to have many fans.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100

'We feel that Chenin Blanc is best suited to be the heart of the wine and that is why it forms the biggest portion of the co-fermentation. The aromas are very complex and change considerably in the glass. Perfume, spice, tea, stone fruit and citrus blossoms are some of the notes that can be detected. In the mouth the texture and ripeness and gentle tannins result in a wine that has incredible length and a complex flavour profile. The wine also has wonderful fruit volume characterised by stone fruit and mineral flavours.' – Adi Badenhorst, Winemaker

Producer information AA Badenhorst Family Wines are grown, made and matured on Kalmoesfontein farm in the Swartland appellation of South Africa. The farm is owned by cousins, Hein and Adi Badenhorst, and over the last decade, 41 hectares of old vines, the oldest planted back in 1952, have been farmed back to glory. They practice biological farming and make natural wines in the traditional manner. 'The top wines translate Swartland through Adi's fuzzy logic and irresistible charm,' writes Neal Martin after a visit. He also calls his visit one of his 'top 10 wine visits of all time'.
