‘Always more than the sum of its impressive parts, Kalmoesfontein is Syrah-based with 60% Cinsault, Tinta Barocca and Touriga Nacional, all picked on the same day and co-fermented. ‘The 2020 AA Badenhorst Red Blend (which now prints the farm name, Kalmoesfontein, on the label) contains eight vineyards all picked together over three days. This is very attractive with blackberry, raspberry, a lovely herbal element and dried violets on the nose.
