The CIP 2017 forms an alternative wine investment in which the public can capture South Africa's most investable
and desirable wines. Seven blue-chip Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignons, that have the lowest relative prices, are
included in an investment portfolio of 120 bottles. Buying CIP 2017 en-primeur saves 19% on the estimated
release prices over and above the 5 years of free cellaring. There were 40 portfolios available at R50,000 per
portfolio.
The CIP 2017 is fully-subscribed. Please email Johan to sign-up to our investment newsletter.

Wine Investment
VIP 2015
Overview
The Vintage Investment Portfolio 2015 was launched in 2018 as Wine Cellar's first and long-awaited investment product. It is a unitised basket of SA’s most investable wines, heralding from the greatest modern-day vintage. Offered with almost 20 years of fine wine trading experience, we believe this investment vehicle attracts the least administration and cost, along with the highest possible return.
Professional cellaring is included in the purchase price with no further costs for the first 5 years. This constitutes a cellaring cost saving of R17,776 per unit on release, an effective 17.8% discount. Flexibility is provided in the ability to trade single wines or entire VIP units. A VIP unit of the same wines from the 2009 vintage would have seen an annual return of 16,5% (as of October 2018). Total stock within the VIP 2015s constitutes approximately 1.5% of total production and is a leap forward in providing a secondary market for fine wine in the future.
The VIP 2015 is fully-subscribed. Please email Johan to sign-up to our investment newsletter.

Scores in italics indicate a previous vintage score; where the specific vintage has not yet been reviewed.
Vintages are important but we believe that leading wines show less score variation across vintages, especially in SA.
Where Platter’s offers a star rating: 5* – 95/100, 4.5* (highly recommended) – 94/100, 4.5* – 90/100, and 4* – 88/100
