Waterford – 2015 Cabernet and the luxury Jem

The magic of the 2015 vintage continues to filter into the market with the release of the Waterford Cabernet Sauvignon. It is worth reiterating once again – never has there been such a time to purchase Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2015 Waterford is definitely a contender for their finest Cabernet yet and, once again, it offers a finely-tuned structure; perfect for long-ageing. It is deftly oaked with a moderate alcohol and its supremely elegant style suits the firm expression of the Helderberg terroir. Backward in style with a mineral core, the 2015 will take time to unravel as its chalky tannins and pure fruit provide the platform for two decades of ageing.

Piron Beaujolais 2016

Another new-release is the Waterford The Jem 2012 which received a Platter’s 5-Star, 95 points from Tim Atkin MW and 94 points from Christian Eedes. Firmly established as one of SA’s top luxury wines, the 2012 is simply sensational and from yet another benchmark Stellenbosch vintage. The elegant blend of eight varieties is seamlessly knit and offers a myriad of complexity, depth and flavour. Remarkably fresh and taut at 6 years of age, it will also drink well for two decades.

While the luxurious Jem has a luxury price tag, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is exceptional value for one of SA’s top Cabernet Sauvignons. These two wines place Waterford firmly at the apex of Stellenbosch reds.
