Notes

65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc and 11% Merlot

Tasting notes:
'Ripe and muscular, with inviting black tea, fig, bacon and licorice notes giving way to a delicious plum pudding note on the thickly layered finish. Cuts a broad swath. For the hedonist crowd. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.' – Wine Spectator, 91/100

'Delicious and mature, the Warwick 2006 is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc and 11% Merlot. It offers mature notes of dark plums, wet tobacco and attractive earthy undertones. On the palate you get savoury tomato purée followed by dry, integrated tannins. Its poised mid-palate offers wonderful fruit sweetness that balances its savouriness. Ready to drink but will keep for another 3 – 5 years.' – James Pietersen (August 2017)

Winemaker’s comments:
The wine displays a concentrated brick red dark colour. On the nose the wine expresses intense liquorice, prunes and blackberries with a softer tone of mocha and dark chocolate and complex undertones of leather and cigar box. There is a silky soft feel on the palate with roasted almonds and coffee flavours. The wine has a very broad palate that lingers. Decanting when young will give more pleasure and aroma.

Production:
Each component was harvested and vinified separately. The wine was kept on the skins for no longer than 7 days. The components were then allowed to finish malolactic fermentation and were then aged in French oak for 24 months. The new wood component is 60%.

Analysis:
pH: 3.55 RS: 2.4g/l Alc: 14.6% TA: 6.1g/l
65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc and 11% Merlot
