Syrah

Tamboerskloof, Syrah 2015

R220

7 in stock

Notes

94% Shiraz, 5% Mourvèdre and 1% Viognier

Tasting notes:
'This is the best Syrah I’ve had from Kleinood, made in what Gunter Schultz describes as a “bright vintage”. Subtle and elegant, with 4% Mourvèdre for added complexity, it’s youthful and sappy with lots of blackberry sweetness, fine tannins and understated wood. 2019-27.' – Tim Atkin SA Special Report 2018, 94/100

'Lilting whiffs of white pepper & pimento spice in savoury 2015; bold blackberry fruit folded into well-knit/judged tannic core. Svelte & suave, with dashes mourvèdre & viognier adding dimension. 15% gets 19 months in new oak, rest seasoned wood.' – Platter's Guide 2018, 91/100

'Ruby in colour, Tamboerskloof Syrah 2015 has a complex nose of garrigue, (the combined fynbos aromas of rosemary, lemon verbena, lavender and marjoram that perfume the air at Kleinood) ripe cherry, fine spices, cassis, currant and ripe strawberry. The well-balanced palate shows dark plum, Christmas cake, Turkish delight and a fine hint of cinnamon. It finishes with soft elegant, chalky tannins. Decant 30 minutes prior to serving.' – Winemaker

Viticulture:
The grapes are hand-picked and sorted 3 times before going into stain- less steel fermenters where a combination of modern technology and old-style winemaking techniques takes care of creating our unique hand- crafted wine. Fermented at 26 ̊C for 11 to 16 days.
