Notes

Jasper Wickens, previously the assistant winemaker at Badenhorst Family Wines, has built up a following in a very short time – and for good reason. This Young Gun has a deft touch and his wines are always measured, typically ‘Swartland’ and, most of all, delicious!

His excellent 2018 Swerwer Chenin Blanc is a typical Swartland white with concentrated fruit and a saline undertow that is balanced by fresh, zippy acidity.

Tasting notes:
'Grapes from a vineyard grown on granitic soils. The nose shows pear, white peach and citrus with some spice and dried grass in the background. The palate has good fruit concentration and plenty of drive thanks to zesty acidity, a pleasant pithy quality to the finish. Alcohol: 13.5%.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100

'The wine is a soft yellow with some green hues. White stonefruits, wild blossoms, herbal notes and flinty minerality invites the senses. A textured entry with a combination of stonefruit and citrus flavours and soft acidity finishing long and fresh.' – Winemaker

Winemakers notes:
Swerwer refers to the restless winemaker who is answering to the call of faraway wine lands, inspired to explore unfamiliar regions and experience different wine cultures. They follow the seasons like swallows to distant shores… in search for uncharted terroir, the perfect vintage and the ultimate wine adventure.
