Tim Atkin’s first 100-pointer and ridiculous value from Leeuwenkuil

International wine critic and Master of Wine Tim Atkin has released his 7th annual SA report, which you can download here, and has awarded the 2015 Kanonkop Paul Sauer his first 100-point score in the New World! The 750ml bottles are all sold out, but we have limited magnums available. Please email your request to Aimee@winecellar.co.za.

Tim’s thorough report not only scores the important wines in the industry but also highlights 10 of the latest wine trends in SA, including the impact of the drought, the greatness of the 2015 and 2017 vintages, the Old Vines Project, and the burgeoning fine wine sector. He even mentions our very own VIP 2015. See the list of Overall Wines and Winemakers of the Year.

We have already offered most of the 95+ wines but here is the list of what we still have available. Today, our focus is on 2 new wines from our friends at Leeuwenkuil that offer ridiculous value. These 2 reserve blends take the place of the previously single-varietal wines.

Leeuwenkuil Reserve WhiteLeeuwenkuil Reserve Red

The Leeuwenkuil Reserve Red 2017 is a pure-fruited Swartland beauty with a modest alcohol level and sumptuous Old World savouriness. It has the sophistication of a wine 3 times the price along with great drinkability from the fine 2017 vintage. The Leeuwenkuil Reserve White 2017 is also very elegant and deeply complex. It offers ample citrus, fine aromatics and a minerality that is not often found in the Swartland. In summary, these are the bargains of the year!
