Notes

Today the Château des Rontets estate includes a Clos of 5,6 hectares in the lieu-dit Les Rontets and a plot of half a hectare in the former lieu-dit Pierrefolle, both within the district of Fuissé. The estate also includes half a hectare in the lieu-dit Côte de Besset, within the district of Saint-Amour. Château des Rontets produces three cuvées of Pouilly-Fuissé and one of Saint-Amour. All its wines are certified organic.

Bourgogne Blanc is a generic appellation which can contain grapes from all around Burgundy. The Château des Rontets is sourced mostly from Mâcon-Verzey however, and offers beautiful depth and character. It’s an absolute knock-out for the price!

Tasting notes:
'The 2016 Bourgogne Blanc "du Sud" was produced from purchased Mâconnais grapes. Offering up notes of fresh apples, orange blossom and mandarin, it's glossy, medium-bodied and open-knit. It was vinified in foudre and will drink well on release.' – Wine Advocate, 87/100

'A fresh, expressive and nicely layered nose offers up notes of pear, white peach and a hint of lemon zest. On the palate the nicely concentrated middle weight flavors possess an attractive texture while delivering solid depth and persistence for its level. I like the sense of energy and this would make a good all-around house white.' – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 87/100

'I also sampled the 2016 Bourgogne Blanc, made from purchased fruit, and it's a fairly serious, classically dry wine with elements of citrus fruits, peach and salinity and a firm-edged finish featuring a note of lemon zest. Montrasi will make this wine again in 2017, supplementing his purchases of fruit with some of his own grapes.' – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com
