Wine: Clos de L'Obac
The 2007 Clos de L-Obac is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Syrah, Merlot, and Carinena aged for 14 months in new French oak. It offers a similar aromatic and flavor profile to the Miserere but the addition of new oak adds a bit more complexity to the nose and a creamier texture. Mineral, asphalt, incense, spice box, and assorted black fruit aromas are followed by a dense, layered, savory wine with more structure and aging potential than its sibling. Give it 4-6 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2014 to 2022, perhaps longer.

Wine: Miserere
Costers del Siurana's 2007 Miserere is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Tempranillo, Merlot, and Carinena aged for 12 months in French oak and bottled without filtration. Although a slightly atypical blend for the region, it has plenty of Priorato character. Purple-colored, it has a fragrant perfume of liquid minerality, scorched earth, spice box, violets, black currant, and black cherry. Dense and potentially complex, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and offer prime drinking from 2012 to 2019.
