Platter’s 2019 – Our top value picks!

Every year, the Platter’s Guide is released with great anticipation. During the course of the year, we've highlighted many of this year's top wines, including Alheit Vineyards, Savage, Boekenhoutskloof, Sadie Family, Crystallum and many more.

There is a marked increase in the average price which speaks to the quality of South Africa's top wines. However, a handful offer exceptional value. Leading the pack we have the Raats Dolomite Cabernet Franc 2016, with delicious fruit, balance and elegance, and the Lindi Carien 2017, a complex and layered white blend with stunning depth. The best value Chenin is the exquisitely detailed Spioenkop Sarah Raal 2017. The excellent Mullineux Old Vine White 2017 rounds out the whites. The reds include the Oldenburg Merlot 2015 and finally, of course, is the Boekenhoutskloof Chocolate Block 2017 which is their finest to date with great focus and a distinctly Swartland presence.
