Joseph Drouhin 2015 Burgundy case – Just R1,862!

Véronique Drouhin, head winemaker and 4th generation vigneron, suggests that 2015 is most comparable to the fine 2002 vintage. Along with 2005 and 2010, these constitute the greatest vintages of the modern era and 2015 may trump them all.

Perfect ripening and cool nights in this marginal climate gave the wines fine acidity and beautiful depth. ‘The 2015 has lovely structure but with a nice roundness,’ Véronique remarked with respect to the reds, ‘whereas the 2005s were more tannic.’ The 2015 whites are equally ripe and round, with perhaps less minerality than the 2014s, and driven more by rich fruit and texture.

We offer a must-have 2015 Joseph Drouhin Burgundy Mixed 6-Pack, containing delicious whites for drinking over summer, including the zippy Chablis Vaudon and fuller Rully Blanc. The reds are more serious and structured and offer drinking over the next decade.

Maison Joseph Drouhin produces wines across 90 different appellations in Burgundy and owns 90 acres of vineyards. Much like Véronique, the Drouhin wines are soulful, understated and elegant, succinctly reflecting their terroir and the wonderful 2015 vintage.

Joseph Drouhin, Côte de Beaune-Villages 2015
Here the expressive nose offers up notes of violet, plum and black cherry that complements well the delicious, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess slightly better depth on the ever-so-slightly rustic finale. This too would make for a fine all-around and age-worthy house red as it needs a few years to unwind. – Allen Meadows 88/100

Joseph Drouhin, Chorey-les-Beaune 2015
The 2015 Chorey-les-Beaune Village, tasted from a 500-liter demi-muid, has a vivid bilberry and dark plum-scented bouquet, a hint of blue fruit coming through with time and identifying its appellation of origin. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, tight on the mid-palate with a surprisingly structured and strict finish. I would like a little more contrast by the time it is in bottle, more exuberance. – Wine Advocate 86-88/100

Joseph Drouhin, Côte de Nuits-Villages 2015
A delicious red Burgundy, with harmonious flavours. Bright ruby colour. On the nose, intense aromas of wild cherry, liquorice and mild spices, evolving towards notes of undergrowth and mushroom. On the palate, excellent balance between tannin, acidity and 'gras' (velvety texture). The aftertaste is reminiscent of little red berries. – Veronique Drouhin

Joseph Drouhin, Rully Blanc 2015
There is enough reduction present to dominate the fruit. Otherwise the round and fleshy flavors possess an easy-to-like texture though the lemon-tinged finale is a bit simple and the mouth feel is so forward that it's hard to see much more developing before this is entirely ready to drink. – Burghound 86/100

Joseph Drouhin, Mâcon-Bussières les Clos 2015
The colour is limpid and bright. The wine develops mineral notes with hints of white flowers. Precise on the palate and long aftertaste. It shows an amazing purity. – Véronique Drouhin

Joseph Drouhin, Chablis Vaudon 2015
An elegant wine. Brilliant colour, with hints of green. Typical Chablis nose, where aromas of citrus (lemon) fern and even salty sensations predominate. On the palate: vigorous and lively, but in a soft mode. A lot of finesse and balance. – Véronique Drouhin
