SA's Top Luxury White Taste-Off – R450
CT: 4 Feb; JHB: 4 Feb
Last year Wine Cellar hosted a social experiment to uncover SA's top luxury red. Read the results here. This year we tackle the whites in a fun but important tasting of 12 of the most expensive and luxurious South African wines. Tasted blind by you, the consumer, be a part of this unique experiment and choose SA's top luxury white! The line-up will include Uva Mira, Hamilton Russell, Alheit Makstok, Mullinuex Schist, Sadie Palladius and more.
Great Loire – R400
CT: 18 Feb; JHB: 18 Feb
We have broadened our Loire portfolio, focusing on Chenin Blanc and now comprising famous names and hot new producers. Domaine Huet, Coulée de Serrant, Moulin Touchais and Thierry Germain represent the former, Vincent Carême and Grange Tiphaine the latter. Taste top wines from Vouvray, Savennières, Montlouis, Saumur, Coteaux du Layon and of course Coulée de Serrant. Highlights include a 1975 Moulin Touchais and 1999 Huet Le Mont. See a list of our new Loire portfolio.
Jamet Côte Rôtie Vertical Dinner – R950
CT: 11 March - Auslese; JHB: 14 March - Ten Bompas
Côte Rôtie's legendary winemaker, Jean Paul Jamet, is in South Africa! This is probably the Wine Cellar team's most loved wine and it sells out every year on allocation. Taste 8 vintages of the Côte Rôtie at Auslese in Cape Town or Ten Bompas in Johannesburg, for one of the most exciting events of the year. Jamet wines are produced in a very traditional style that hasn't changed over the last 2 decades. Experience how these gems blossom with age as we taste back to the late '90s. Unfortunately Jean Paul will not be in Johannesburg, but we still have all the wines to drink!
Biodynamics, Chenin Blanc and the Loire: Lunch in the Vineyard at Reyneke – R850
CT: 15 March, Reyneke
We celebrate the end of harvest with a lunch in the vineyard catered by Christophe Dehosse, along with some of the greatest biodynamic Chenin Blancs. Leading biodynamic authority Johan Reyneke will explain this unique farming method as we enjoy wines from Coulée de Serrant, Domaine Huet, Thierry Germain and Reyneke. Only 30 seats are available and, yes, it's a fruit day.
Spotlight on Grenache – R350
CT: 18 March; JHB: 18 March
Get to grips with one of SA's most exciting grapes. We focus on top South African Grenache and compare the wines to leading examples from France and Spain. Arguably the 2 finest in the land – Eben's Soldaat and Adi's Raaigras, from SA's oldest vines – will be up against wines from Chapoutier, Vieille Julienne and Domaine des Tours (Château Rayas' sister property), amongst others.
Cinsaut, Pinot and Their Love Child – R250
CT: 8 April; JHB: 1 April
It's high time Cinsaut was placed in the spotlight. Not only has it been a large part of our history, but the latest Cinsauts are incredibly pure, elegant and vivid wines. We match Cinsaut up against top examples of SA Pinot Noir, as well their love child – Pinotage. Top wines will include Sadie's Pofadder, Crystallum Mabalel, Spioenkop Pinotage and many more.
10-Year Luddite Vertical with Niels Verburg – R300
CT: 15 April; JHB: 14 April
For the first time in history, Niels will show 10 years of the iconic Luddite Shiraz as we launch the new 2009. A brilliant Bot River vintage, this could be his finest yet! We also taste his new 2013 Chenin Blanc at what will no doubt be a fun and interesting evening with one of the industry's biggest characters.
Piedmont 2010 and 2011 – R500
CT: 22 April; JHB: 22 April
Some of the most exciting releases of the year come from two top Piedmont vintages; 2010 in Barolo and 2011 in Barbaresco are said to be among the greats. We will include wines from Gaja, Marco Marengo, Marchesi di Grésy and Produttori del Barbaresco. Highlights will certainly be Gaja Barbaresco, Marengo Brunate and Marchesi di Grésy Gauin.
Young Guns V – Price TBC
CT, JHB & Durban: Last week of June
Full details will be available along with online bookings from 1 April. This year we are pushing the boundaries once again by adding a Young Guns in Durban! South Africa's craziest and most exciting tasting will be held in the last week of June.

Tastings start at 18:30 and end at 20:00; dinners finish at around 22:00. We generally taste between 12 and 16 wines. Terms and conditions apply.
