Mauvesin Barton, Moulis-en-Medoc 2015

R325

4 in stock

Notes

42% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot

At Mauvesin Barton, every vintage is the result of a blend between men, soil and expertise. At the pace of nature and in the respect of the terroir of Moulis, Château Mauvesin Barton produces an elegant and structured wine. Its aim is to be among the best wines of the appellation.

Tasting notes:
'The fifth vintage from this estate since its purchase by the Barton family of Léoville Barton in Saint-Julien, this is a generous, structured wine. It has ripe black fruits in profusion that are held together by the serious layer of tannins. Rich and concentrated, the wine will age for many years. Drink from 2024.' – Wine Enthusiast, 93/100

'The 2015 Mauvesin Barton is a blend of 42% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, the first vintage that Mélanie Barton-Sartorius was "on her own" to make the wine. It has a straightforward raspberry and wild strawberry-scented bouquet, a little more tertiary in style than its peers, but with good definition. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, perhaps somewhat rustic in style compared to its peers, with a savory finish that needs to develop more persistence on the finish. This is a fine Moulis, although I think there is better to come.' – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 88-90/100
