Notes

'Maanschijn is the label belonging to youngsters Paul Hoogwerf and Doug Mylrea who make wine out a barn between Stanford and Hermanus.

Tasting notes:
‘Again a barrel sample tasted. ’17 ‘alternative white’ from Grenache gris mostly made with some skin contact (hence apricot-gold hue). Intriguing, lightly oxidative character. Just 12.2% alcohol; almost austere (though flavourful) in its precise, elegant, dry freshness, with a bit of tannin too.’ – Platter's Wine Guide 2018, 4*

'Building on the success of their 2016 maiden vintage of this wine, the 2017 is as alternatively delicious and textured as the 2016, however with more precision/focus and elegance. Bruised apple and white (tea) spice are complemented by a vibrant lemony acidity and pithy texture that lingers on the palate. These two libertines felt that the 2017 was a rewarding one, blessing them with freshness and acidity that raised the bar and refined the 2017 Easy, Tiger.' – Jolette Steyn, Wine Cellar (January 2018)
