Founded in 1999 by Dominique Lafon, Héritiers du Comte Lafon is his trailblazing, biodynamic Mâconnais domaine. These world class Chardonnay display what this magical region is capable of producing. Historically, the Mâconnais was known for industrially farmed, volume driven wines.

‘The 2016 vintage is not a year to buy blindly, but it’s certainly a vintage to buy’. – Decanter

2016 in Burgundy was a stellar vintage - very similar to the much-heralded 2014 vintage, producing wines with laser-like precision, stony minerality and beautiful supple fruit. Known as the Wizard of White Burgundy, Dominique Lafon, the managing director of Domaine des Comte Lafon, is considered to be one of the most important vintners of his generation.

Top Burgundian whites are the apotheosis of the Chardonnay grape. For those who love white Burgundy, but dread the price, the Mâconnais offers the best value wines in Burgundy. It’s important to remember that 2016 is not a question of quality, but quantity and so this is your chance to get your hands on some of the magic of Mâcon by Dominique Lafon!

In their list of ‘11 Affordable Burgundies that punch above their weight’, Wine Spectator writes that ‘many standouts in this group are from the Mâconnais, led by Dominique Lafon and his Héritiers du Comte Lafon’. Founded in 1999 by Dominique Lafon, Héritiers du Comte Lafon is his trailblazing, biodynamic Mâconnais domaine.

Whilst yields were down in many parts of the region, producers marvelled at the quality of fruit that made it to the cellars. We’re delighted to offer you some of the spellbinding single site parcels in Southern Burgundy of Les Héritiers du Comtes Lafon from this very small 2016 vintage.

Tasting notes:
'A tight, stony style, offering apple, lemon and anise flavors. Fleshes out with air, trading lemon for lemon pie and peach notes, with a mineral undertone. Drink now through 2021.' – Wine Spectator, 90/100

'Broad and rich on both nose and palate but with excellent framework and acidity. Tastes as though it is just approaching peak now. Lip smacking. Complete.' – Jancis Robinson, 16.5/20
