Harmand-Geoffroy, Gevrey-Chambertin 2015

R725

Notes

On the nose, it has rich and fruity aromas. The Gevrey-Chambertin has great power but still offers refinement and finesse.

The family began farming in the late 19th century. Today, the vineyards extend over an area of ±9 hectares. In most plots, the average age of the vines is 50 years, the oldest plots contain vines as old as 85 years.

Cultivation remains very traditional with no use of chemical fertilisers. Vinification involves 100% de-stemming, cold pre-fermentation maceration of about five days and fermentation of 15 to 21 days depending on the vintage. The ageing of the wines is done in oak barrels, between 20% and 40% new wood for the villages and first crus, 90% for the Grand Cru. The bottling is done by hand and takes place according to the evolution of the wine, usually between 12 months and 16 months, keeping all the aromatic freshness of Pinot Noir, as well its fruity characteristics.

The Harmand-Geoffroy wines benefit from decanting and aeration before being drunk.
