Domaine Huet Vouvray 2016 – Completes a trio of great vintages

We are humbled to offer Domaine Huet’s iconic 2016 Vouvrays. The 3 vineyards of Le Mont, Le Haut-Lieu and Clos du Bourg produce mineral-styled, long-ageing Chenin Blancs of varying sweetness that, according to Neal Martin, will ‘silence a dinner party with awe and wonderment’.

Domaine Huet was established in 1928 and has been farmed biodynamically since 1990. Winemaker Jean-Bernard Barthomé classifies the complicated 2016 vintage as ‘exceptional’ as frost reduced yields by 50% but the harvest conditions were remarkably dry. As a result, Huet produced wines at all levels of sweetness from Sec to Première Trie. These 2016s complete an unprecedented trio of great vintages – following the classical and fresh 2014s and the powerful 2015s.

All the wines are very delicate, elegant, pure and superbly balanced expressions of their specific terroirs,’ writes Wine Advocate who gave the wines massive ratings along with Wine Spectator.

Huet Le Mont Sec 2016

Le Mont Sec 2016 is one of the finest dry Huet wines that I've tasted. It is ethereal and tight at first, with a railway track structure, and ends with a plume of limey, earthy complexity and ridiculous length. Its fine acidity and depth will allow for decades of ageing.

To capture the full 2016 release, we are offering just 12 mixed packs that include a classy sparkling wine, 2 Demi-Secs and an incredible sweet wine from Le Mont. Otherwise, see the full list of Huet wines here.
