Hoendertande Grenache

De Kleine Wijn Koop, Hoendertande Grenache 2016

R230

12 in stock

Notes

Situated in Piekenierskloof, planted in the early 2000s. Grapes sourced by the infamous driver 'Panda' and transported to Cape Town...after he ate most of them.

Picked on the 12th February 2016. Picked much earlier in 2016 than ever before due to drought and heat. The wine was 100% whole bunched fermented in open topped fermenters with 2 punch downs a day for 10 days. It was then basket pressed straight into a single old 500L French oak barrel. The wine spent a total of 9 months in oak before a light egg white fining. The wine was bottled in December 2016.

Analysis:
Alc: 12% RS: 2 g/l pH: 3.52
