Notes

Resulting from a family of winegrowers dating back 150 years, Daniel Dampt has joined his domaine with that of his father-in-law's, Jean Defaix. The estate currently counts 30 hectares of vines in production, including 16 hectares of CHABLIS and 14 hectares of Chablis Ier Cru of which in particular of Vaillons, Fourchaume, Cote de Lechet, Les Lys and Beauroy.

Chablis 1er Cru Les Vaillons is a leading Premier Cru known for its calcareous soils that give the wines their powerful, taut style. The family of Daniel Dampt has a 150-year history in Chablis. Using stainless steel ageing and produced from 35-year-old vines, this will age well for up to a decade.

The recently constructed cellar is equipped with stainless steel tanks. The purchase of modern, powerful cellar equipment has enabled the group to increase its production of bottles, which now stands at 150000 bottles per year. All Daniel Dampt's wines are produced and bottled by the domaine. This means all his wines are made from grapes grown in his own vineyards, which is a crucial factor in the personality and quality of the wines.

Tasting notes:
‘There is ample mineral reduction character present on the iodine, essence of pear and lemon-lime aromas. There is less volume and richness if better precision and verve to the saline and stony finish. This offers more Chablis typicity than does the Fourchaume but not the overall depth.’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 89-91/100

'60-year-old vines, east-facing. Bottled. Smells a little richer and riper on the nose than the Lys. Cedary lime and green fruits plus all that benchmark Chablis dusty/stony character. Intense citrus fruit, severe in its freshness but balanced by the greater fruit depth here. Creamy aftertaste.' – Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20
