Cool and Secure maturation underground cellars in Observatory.
Storage Conditions
- wines are stored in clean, dark, vibration-free underground
cellars. The temperature is controlled between 13 and 14 degrees
Centigrade (55 and 57 degrees Fahrenheit). Daily temperatures
are recorded. The relative humidity generally runs above 70% and
is recorded. Cellar floors are dry.
Security
- the cellars are locked and protected with high security alarms
and closed-circuit television. Access only permitted with a
member of WINE CELLAR staff. All deliveries and withdrawals are
checked and recorded on duplicate receipt and despatch forms.
Insurance -
Insurance is provided by WINE CELLAR to cover water, fire and
flood damage up to R133.33 per litre. The cost
of the insurance cover is included in the charges for the year.
Location and Access
- the cellars are located in Prices Park, Nelson Road, off Lower
Main Road in the suburb of Observatory; readily accessible from
all areas of the city of Cape Town from the N1, N2, M4 (Main
Road) and Liesbeek Parkway. Access to the cellars and clients
wine is by prior arrangement during normal business hours - 0800
to 1700 hours Monday to Friday. Special arrangements can be made
to accommodate clients access to their wine at other times.
Withdrawals -
Withdrawal requests can only be made via Email to
info@winecellar.co.za .
We will also accept faxes to 086 631 7931.
Cellaring Charges
- Charge per financial year from 1 March 2010, including VAT and
insurance:
R62 per case of 12 bottles (750
ml bottles)
R36 per 6-bottle carton
R26 per 3-bottle carry pack
R26 per magnum (1500 ml bottle)
There is a minimum charge of 6 months storage, any contract
period will attract an RHD of R10/case. 24 Hours notice could be required for access to
reserves. A ½-year rate will apply to reserves entered between 1
September and end February. Only full cases/cartons/packs will
be accepted for cellaring. Private Bins are available on
request.
Cellaring Agreement
– it is required that a binding agreement be entered into
between WINE CELLAR and the client at the time of commencing
cellaring.
Inventory
Control
- clients reserves are available on-line on this web site;
a password unique to each client ensures this information is
confidential and protected.
Collection
- Wine Cellar is able to
collect free-of-charge wine to be store around the Cape Peninsula at
their convenience. Outer collections will attract a charge.
Delivery
- clients wine can be delivered to an
address anywhere in South Africa. This charge varies with quantity
and method. Deliveries are made by a specialist wine courier who
transport the wine from Cape Town to major centres overnight in an
insulated truck.
