Notes

Cape Point Vineyards is an award-winning wine Estate in Noordhoek where vines are lazily nestled between mountains and ocean. Cool breezes from the sea make for a slow growing season, with a late harvest that results in a truly unique Sauvignon Blanc that is recognised across the globe for its rich minerality, structure and tone.

Grapes for this wine are selected from three site specific blocks on the picturesque sea-facing Noordhoek slopes from the Peninsulas southern-most vineyards. The grapes were hand-harvested between 22°B and 24°B in the early hours of the morning.

Tasting notes:
'There’s only 5% Semillon in the blend here, but it definitely adds another dimension to this superb Sauvignon Blanc. Scented oak, floral and white pepper top notes and focused, sea breeze and oyster shell notes with a core of crunchy, zesty fruit. 2019-24.‘ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 94/100

'Fermented/matured in 600L French oak barrels, elegant 17 has mere smidgen semillon to enhance rich, honeyed, lanolin texture providing backdrop to concentrated lime, tangerine & gooseberry flavours, underscored by flinty minerality. Own fruit only.' – Platters Guide 2019, 4,5*

'The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve is fermented and aged in old 600-liter French oak barrels for 14 months with partial spontaneous ferment. This was due to be bottled at the end of August. It has a generous bouquet of well defined cooking apple, fresh pear, lychee and white flower scents that seem to blossom with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with plenty of energy, quite saline, and lightly spiced toward the finish with veins of stem ginger and a pinch of white pepper. This is a very promising Sauvignon Blanc that will be highly recommended once in bottle.' – Neal Martin Report 2018, 92/100

Winemakers comments:
The wine shows a generous bouquet of fresh pear and white flower scents, backed by a well-balanced palate bouncy with energy, saline oyster shell and traces of ginger. Cape Point Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2017 will benefit from bottle maturation, and will reward for up to 10 years after vintage. Best enjoyed at 14°C.
