Boschkloof, Epilogue Syrah 2015

Notes

Epilogue is the Boschkloof flagship red wine made from a single Syrah block from the SH99 clone. The vineyard is situated on top of decomposed granite soils in the Stellenbosch Hills and made as naturally as possible.

Tasting note:
'The 2015 is a much finer and classically structured wine than the highly acclaimed 2014. The nose is shy, coiled and the palate chiseled and precise. A wonderful combination of new world perfume and fruit, but yet composed with old-world fine saline tannin. This is a stunner. Produced from a single vineyard, 10% whole bunch, 10% new oak and rest old large oak vessels, matured for 14months. Limited production, this is one from a stellar vintage and for the cellar!' – James Pietersen (June 2017)

'Reenen Borman says this is the 'easiest wine to make because the grapes are so good' and what a site this is. Dense, grippy and wonderfully perfumed with layers of Asian spices, subtle whole bunch characters, refined oak and remarkable depth. Now established as one of the Cape's great Syrahs. 2020-30.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2017, 97/100

Analysis:
Alc: 14% TA: 5.6 pH: 3.62 RS: 2.1
