2005 - If you can believe all the initial hype around, 2005 is one of the greatest vintages of all time – reds with the power of 2003 and the tannins of 1996, not just in the northern Medoc but throughout the appellations. Both dry and sweet white are also high in quality as it appears generally throughout France. No doubt about the weather; dry conditions throughout the year, warm days without excessive heat, cool nights, good breezes and ideal rainfall. Grapes of exceptional quality and uniformity, sweet, well-coloured, excellent acidity and smooth, fresh tannins. The moderate heat has also contributed to rich fresh and fruity whites.

2006 - The Very Good Vintage of 2006 - Robert Parker. Destined to live in the shadow of 2005, 2006 is a classic vintage where the top properties shined. An extremely hot July (hottest since 1950) pointed to another wonderfully ripe vintage that started out drier than the average year. Uneven bud break reduced the harvest initially and then a severely damp August caused rot and decreased it further. Those properties that did the extensive vineyard work were able to cut yields and save quality. A dry and Sunny September saved the harvest for many and it ended up a good vintage.

2007 - A great vintage for White Bordeaux where intense dry and sweet wines were produced. The reds were modest in comparison; due to the difficult harvest those Chateaux with the capital were able to restrict quantities and produce top quality wines. So its worth seeking out only the top producers.
