Notes

'This early picked cuvée of Cinsaut with Shiraz and Grenache comes from the warmer, Swartland side of Darling and is new to the BLANKbottle range. It’s a classic Pieter Walser blend: crunchy, refreshing and tangy with raspberry and pomegranate fruit and a backdrop of acidity. 2018-21'. – Tim Atkin, Special South Africa Report 2017, 92/100

The name is a reference to the beautiful old Darling Cinsaut vineyard. Having gone to a large co-op, this wine was made for the first time in the vineyard’s 65th year. Before formal retirement from service in its 63rd year, Pieter took his chance and snuck in. After 2 years of careful nursing and recuperation, the wine is a Cinsaut-driven blend with a dash of Syrah and Grenache. Very hands-off winemaking with small amounts of Sulphur added just before bottling and a gentle 12% alcohol.

Tasting notes:
'This is just delicious. Notes of wild musk, white pepper and crunchy red fruit. Beautiful and deeply poised it is quite raw and herby in its youth. Red fruits abound in a long, fleshly and fresh finish. Oh, did I say delicious?' – Roland Peens (August 2017)
