Notes

Hope Marguerite is a pure expression of our two oldest Chenin vineyards and this, the 20th vintage, captures another great year in the bottle. The 2016 is similar in style to its other even numbered vintages - 2012 & 2014. Aromas are savoury and spicy with apple pie and pear fruit. Fresh with a crisp acidity will keep the wine energetic and lively for beautiful aging.

Named after Hope Marguerite Beaumont, a woman with character, elegance and a love for wine. We have produced this Chenin to reflect the pure character of the grape and the individual philosophy of Beaumont wines. The very first vintage of the Hope Marguerite was produced in 1997. Only fruit selected from our oldest Chenin Blanc vineyards, planted in 1974 and 1978, are used for this wine. Barrel fermentation takes place in 400L French oak using only natural yeasts. No malolactic fermentation takes place in order to retain as much natural freshness. The wine is kept on its gross lees for 10 months with regular batonage, giving it a richer and fuller palate.

The Hope Marguerite has now received 5 Platter five star ratings. The 2016 is the new vintage will only be reviewed later in the year.
